Island Lake3This fireplace has a 36″ Rosin Style firebox so it only requires a chimney ~50% of the standard Rumford style firebox.  Along with the curved aerodynamic nature of the firebox the resulting efficiency is about 60% greater than the typical Rumford style traditional open fireplace design.  We use a curved form to cut, grind and shape the firebox for this design.  The firebox is 36×36″x18″ deep.  The chimney system is an 8″ Class A Chimney.

This fireplace was up on Island Lake north of Duluth MN and was finished with a massive Corinthian Granite hearth that we rolled into place before the walls of the house was built.  The face of the fireplace was finished with NY Corinthian Granite in an ashlar pattern and standard grey Type S mortar.
